Surprise…It Takes Work

Surprise…It Takes Work

Most people who are doing well don’t mind assisting others who aspire to do better. They probably won’t tell you everything unless you are a close friend or family member but they’ll gladly point you in the right direction. The people who have achieved any type of success understand something that those who haven’t should know but don’t. It takes work. Nothing is more upsetting to a successful person than being approached by another person on the way up not getting this. They are usually asking for the magical secret/skip button or A-Z instructions on how to be a success. This is upsetting because there is no secret, no skip button. It takes work. No one can give you A-Z instruction because your path is your path.

If you are asking for or expecting a journey to success to be easy you are going to push away all successful people. They know better. Your actions or lack thereof gives them the psychic ability to see that attempting to help you will be a waste of time. The second you hit a roadblock you’ll be sitting around waiting for someone to give the answers. That personality trait doesn’t exist in the psyche of a successful person.

Let’s say a friend comes to you and states they have a great investment opportunity. You listen out of respect for your friend but listen with a skeptical ear. Your friend goes on to explain and present this wonderful get-rich-quick scheme that screams scam. When they are done you ask 2 questions. What made you want to invest in this? Why must you spread word of the opportunity like a disease to make money? The answers because you can get rich and I don’t know that’s how the business works. You are upset but stay calm to explain to your friend that if it was that great of an investment it wouldn’t need to be constantly pushed upon the lower-income population.

Rich people like making money too. The difference is they analyze the investment and don’t jump at any opportunity simply because it states they can make a lot of money. It’s the oldest trick in the book. Have you seen any commercials or door to door salesman attempting to convince people to buy Amazon stock? No, but it’s not needed. The numbers and analytics is all the selling that’s needed. You tell your friend that everything takes work and if it’s easy it will not bring the fruit that you believe it will. You tell them that there are stocks that pay dividends that over time can supplement their income. Instead of getting excited about the information they just received and thinking about studying to become an expert in it they simply ask…which stocks? If you find nothing wrong with that, I’m glad you are reading this.

This is the reason you are either not as successful as you want to be or not successful at all. You are willing to take your money and invest in something you know nothing about. This is the same scenario as the get rich quick scheme. Take time. Put in the work. Research. Learn about what you are doing. What companies pay the best dividends? How does the stock itself do as far as maintaining or going up in value? You becoming knowledgable puts you in the position to become successful. Receiving a list from someone does nothing. It gives you no power. It only gives you a person other than yourself to point to as the reason for yet another failure if it was to occur. This is another trait that is not part of the composition of a successful person.

In closing, pay attention to what you are expecting from a person helping you. Are you asking them for insight on what to study or the answers to the test? If you get the answers to someone else’s test, what will you do if you have a different one? Let’s say you did have the same test. What will you do for the next test? You still know nothing. Don’t do it to yourself. There is work in everything. Stop running away from it. Learning curve? So what. You are making mistakes? It’s part of the deal. Get better and try again. When you get it, you’ll understand the other side. No free rides. Surprise…it takes work.

Food for thought…You do the dishes.
