Lifestyle

When we talk about lifestyle, we focus on the future. Who made this rule that our ideal lifestyle needs to wait? We did. We fill our future lifestyle with glorious adventures, laughs, and freedom. Life is too long not to enjoy it while we are here and too short to think we can do it later. We feel we are doing the right thing by postponing our lifestyle while we work towards our goals. This mindset is a mistake. We should match our hard work with hard play. If we are one of those “work-smart-not-hard people,” okay, work smart and play smart. The key to gaining our ideal lifestyle is to live it in whatever capacity we can in the present. We will discuss just how to accomplish that.

When we think of living our desired lifestyles, we follow up with reasons we cannot do it. We need to deny these thoughts and practice ways of thinking positively. We think, “I don’t have the money to travel as I want”. I don’t have time to paint, read, or compose music as I desire. We mistakenly tell ourselves our desired lifestyle needs to wait then we compound on that incorrect statement. We tell ourselves we need to experience 100% of the lifestyle. It’s not a logical thought. We are still working towards obtaining the lifestyle in totality, so we shouldn’t expect to do everything full-fledged. Okay, but what about adding a little gray to our black-or-white attitude? If going to sporting events is part of the lifestyle we want, should we only go when we can afford season tickets? If we desire to spend the summer traveling from island to island in the Caribbean, should we not enjoy a week at one until we can? Asking the questions out loud makes saying no sound silly, but we do. It may be time to embrace the gray area. We risk the loss of too many enjoyable experiences with the all-or-nothing attitude.

Another method of enjoying our lifestyle is immersing ourselves in the lifestyle. Buy books, watch videos, and study aspects of your ideal lifestyle. This method is living it. We’ll be prepping ourselves for what we desire our lives to be. It will not seem so far-fetched. We’ll discover new things we can do to begin adding small pieces of the lifestyle we want in the present. This approach gives us a small taste of what has yet to come if we stay on task. The ultimate booster or push is the knowledge we’ll be able to do more of this thing once we position ourselves correctly.

In closing, lifestyle is what we desire our lives to be. In no way does that mean later. Immediately include what you want your life to be. Add in as much as you can. Get used to things you want to occur in your life happening and happening because you decide it will. It is an amazing and liberating feeling. The biggest perk is that it’s just a sample of what will be.

Food for thought. You do the dishes!
