There are 6 agreed-upon sides of Wellness. Many of us focus and excel at one or two parts believing we have it all under control. We are unaware that we may be walking around at 33% wondering why we don’t feel like our best selves. I’ve decided to set aside 6 blogs to explain each side of wellness. The first side we’ll discuss is physical wellness. It is the most visible side of wellness. Issues are easy to see, so it is usually the one we focus on. Physical wellness involves focusing on keeping yourself in the best shape you can be. This effort is more than simply working out. It is eating and drinking correctly. It means controlling what and how often we consume what we consume. Physical wellness involves supplying your body with what it needs to operate at peak levels. Do we do it? No. Not as well as we can.
Again, physical wellness is extremely visible. We can see or feel issues. Physical wellness is the sixth we need to conquer first. When it comes to addressing physical wellness is the easiest of the six. We have all the information in the world, state-of-the-art multi-vitamins, and nutrition information our ancestors couldn’t imagine. Public gyms are all over the place. Access to online stores that will deliver gym equipment to our front door with free shipping. Mirrors all over our homes. Easy access to high-quality photos and video to see any angle we need to see of ourselves. Yet, we can’t seem to tackle physical wellness. There must be something we are overlooking. Why do we struggle with this?
We struggle because it takes work. All 6 take work, but this takes physical work. It hurts. We must be disciplined. It takes most of us years to get out of physical shape. It will take just as long to scratch and claw our way back into it. Of course, we can go on crash diets, but wellness is about consistency. There is no fast-forward button to wellness. There is no easy way. It is easy to recognize an issue and easy to get access to tools that will assist in being physically well. That is where the ease stops. We need to understand that we’ll need to make up for years of neglect. We need to do this before it is no longer just a vanity issue. Some of us will face serious health issues because of the lack of work given to this sixth side of wellness. We’ll then have a morbid motivation to give us the kick in the tail we need. When it gets to this state, it is usually too late. Let’s get serious about it now.
In closing, physical wellness is a side we need to address. It will open the possibility of conquering the other five and provide a head start in all of the rest. Physical wellness will provide you will the able body needed to do all you need to do in this world. It will be the temple you need when addressing stress. The base you’ll need when dealing with others. The home for a mind that will take you through the ups and downs of life. The strength you need to move when your surroundings no longer suit you. The haven when we are emotionally hurt. Get to it. It is a prerequisite to setting ourselves up for a beautiful world of wellness.
Food for thought. You do the dishes!
